The Korean skincare ritual, simplified
You do not need ten steps. Five considered ones, used consistently, are enough for most skin.

Korean skincare is often reduced to an image of endless steps. In practice, its real lesson is simpler: treat the skin gently, keep it hydrated, and protect it every day.
1. Cleanse
Choose a low-pH cleanser that leaves skin comfortable rather than tight. In the evening, an oil or balm first removes sunscreen and makeup.
2. Tone
Modern toners are hydrating, not astringent. Press a few drops into damp skin to prepare it for what follows.
3. Treat
This is where serums and ampoules address a specific concern: brightening, clarity, calm or firmness. One targeted treatment is usually enough.
4. Moisturise
A cream seals in the layers beneath it and supports the skin barrier. Lighter gels suit oily skin; richer creams suit dry skin.
5. Protect
Daily SPF is the single most effective step for long-term skin health. Korean sunscreens are prized for being light and leaving no white cast.
Patch-test any new product and introduce one change at a time, so you know what your skin responds to.
